1997

 

The beginning

In 1997 Alexis and Christina Nicolaides decided to start a wine business although funds were very limited. The family business was called Alexis & Nicolas, Nicolas was Alexis’s grandfather, a vineyard owner and wine maker in Anogyra village in Limassol district.

After collaborating with a winery in Pafos region, buying grapes and then blending different grape varieties to create top quality wines, Alexis decided to start importing wines from France and the new world.

2004

 

A vision

In the year 2004, Alexis & Nicolas changed name to Oenoforos, a wine Merchant House that would become a benchmark in importing Fine Wines especially from Burgundy and the New World.

The vision was and still is to import fine wines from family-owned estates that would capture and express the grape varieties, the unique terroir of each country, village, vineyard parcel, in a few words the appellation of origin which today is under threat.

Alexis travelled to the most famous wine regions to meet remarkable and impressive wine growers like Michel Picard that will influence his whole approach and philosophy in the wine trade.
